Rooted in South Texas.
Breaking Boundaries. Building Connection.

Founded in 2009, Edinburg Dance Theatre (EDT) is a South Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to dance education, performance, and cultural cultivation. Serving the Rio Grande Valley, EDT provides opportunities for young dancers to train, perform, and grow, fostering creativity, discipline, and a lifelong love for the arts.

At the heart of EDT is Dancentre of Edinburg, our community dance school and physical home. Through Dancentre, we nurture students from their earliest steps to pre-professional performance, producing beloved community productions like The Nutcracker and Peter and the Wolf. Dancentre serves as a hub for local engagement, family-centered arts education, and youth development in Edinburg and the surrounding areas.

Extending our mission beyond South Texas, Ballet Nepantla is EDT’s national touring and educational outreach initiative. Founded by Andrea Guajardo and Martín Rodríguez in 2017, Ballet Nepantla blends contemporary ballet with Mexican folklórico, offering dynamic performances that honor tradition while pushing artistic boundaries. Through touring productions, masterclasses, and community partnerships, Ballet Nepantla carries forward EDT’s commitment to storytelling, cultural connection, and access to the arts—further engaging audiences across Texas and around the world.

All programs of EDT work together to uplift communities, amplify diverse voices, and make dance a vibrant part of life for people of all ages and backgrounds.
