Bring Ballet Nepantla to Your Community

Ballet Nepantla is honored to be a featured artist on the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA) Texas Touring Roster for the 2026–2028 cycle.

As a touring initiative of Edinburg Dance Theatre, Ballet Nepantla creates powerful, culturally rich performances that blend contemporary ballet and Mexican folklórico to tell stories rooted in history, identity, and community. Through performances, educational residencies, workshops, and community engagement activities, we invite audiences of all ages to experience dance as a catalyst for connection, dialogue, and celebration.

Whether performing in theaters, universities, schools, museums, or community spaces, Ballet Nepantla is committed to creating meaningful artistic experiences that resonate long after the performance ends.

Touring Productions

Ballet Nepantla offers a diverse repertoire of evening-length productions and mixed repertory programs throughout the season that celebrate the rich history of Mexican and Mexican American culture through our signature fusion of contemporary ballet and folklórico.

Educational and Community Engagement

Every Ballet Nepantla engagement can be paired with educational and community programming designed to deepen audience connection and expand access to the arts. Programming can be tailored for students, educators, families, universities, and community organizations.

Offerings include:

  • Masterclasses for any level and age, from young beginners to pre-professional/university

  • Class visits and lecture demonstrations focused on dance and our creative process

  • High school outreach experiences, including movement workshops and artist talks

  • Post-performance Q+As and pláticas that foster dialogue around culture, identity, and artistry

  • "This is not just some kind of show. This is a show that has stories that are meaningful, that help people kind of reflect on their own lives or their culture and their histories."

    Francisco E. Jimenez, The Monitor

  • "What New York City Ballet’s George Balanchine did with the folkloric dances of his native Russia, Ballet Nepantla is doing with the folkloric dances of Mexico."

Keith Widyolar, New York Latin Culture

  • "Ballet Nepantla erases boundaries between dance forms and explores what it means to be from the borderlands — both as a geographical place and a state of mind."

    Daniel Tyx, The Texas Observer

As a Texas Touring Roster artist, Ballet Nepantla may be eligible for funding opportunities through the TCA Arts Respond grant. This quarterly program provides support to Texas schools, libraries, and nonprofit organizations for hiring an artist from the Roster to give a performance, residency, or workshop.

These applications are funded based on a sliding scale, based on contracted fees. Support is based on TCA’s available funds, and cannot exceed 50%. Please check out grant guidelines and deadlines on TCA’s website or contact TCA’s phone or email for more information.
